Since you are on the SL list I assume you really mean “Constructive” simulation???? However, if you really mean “Virtual” simulation (e.g., full-motion flight simulators, surgical simulators, etc.) then yes there is plenty of research to support training transfer. Regards, Ken Hello! I have been lurking in the SLED list and have just joined this list. I understand this is geared more towards healthcare. We are trying to get into business of Virtual Simulation for medical procedures. The project was started by our High School son who is going to take part in a science competition with the project. I write this email, to see if any of you would have the time to fill up the below mentioned questions and send it back to him at romilfs@yahoo.com or send it back to me atvshah.ezcomics@gmail.com. There is no need to reply to the entire group. Also it would be great if you can give some information about your medical expertise.(if your signature contains all the information then we are all set) Questions (please underline answers or simply list them in the email) 1. Will virtual simulation improve quality and safety in medicine?Significantly Somewhat None 2. Does virtual simulation have the potential to reduce patient and in turn health care costs? Ken,
Yes. I really mean the second one that is "Virtual" Simulation with surgical training done not only in SL but having full engines to do the interactive training before the actual live (life and death) situation. We have seen projects in UK and NZ but it looks like in US though this field is picking up there is still not a major presence.
Do you agree? -- Vibha Shah Cell:401-419-8114 skype:vibha-shah Secondlife:Indira Shinn Twitter:Vibha67 website: www.vibhashah.com"It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself." Ralph Waldo Emerson |
